Fair question: is a maintenance plan just a way to get a salesman in your house?
Some are. Ours is two real tune-ups a year, a discount if something does break, and no after-hours fees. It costs $19 a month and you can cancel with one phone call.
What an hour-long tune-up covers
The checklist, so you can hold us to it.
A $39 "tune-up" is fifteen minutes and a list of things to buy. Ours takes about an hour, and this is what the tech does while they're there.
- Clean the outdoor coil
- Test the capacitor and contactor
- Check refrigerant pressure
- Clear the condensate drain
- Check the blower and filter
- Tighten electrical connections
- Inspect burners and heat exchanger (fall)
- Test the thermostat
- Measure the temperature drop across the coil
- Tell you what they found, with photos

No contract, so we have to earn it every visit.
- 2 tune-ups a year, about an hour each
- First spot on the schedule when something breaks
- 15% off any repair
- No after-hours fees, ever
The honest math
$228 a year. Here's what that buys.
Two tune-ups on their own cost $178. So if nothing ever breaks, the club costs you about $50 a year for a guaranteed spot at the front of the line. We'd rather tell you that than have you work it out later.
The first after-hours call or the first real repair usually covers the difference.
| In a year | Pay as you go | Club member |
|---|---|---|
| Two tune-ups | $178 | Included |
| One $400 repair | $400 | $340 |
| After-hours fee | $95 | $0 |
| Membership | $0 | $228 |
| Total | $673 | $568 |
Example year for illustration. Your repairs, if any, will differ.
The questions people actually ask
How do I cancel?
Call the shop. One phone call, and the billing stops that day. No form, no "retention specialist."
Is there a contract?
No. It runs month to month. If we stop being worth $19, you should stop paying it.
Will the tech try to sell me something at the tune-up?
If something is wearing out, you get a photo and a price. You decide later, at home, without anyone standing in your hallway. If everything looks fine, the email you get the next morning will say so.
What if I just joined and something breaks?
The 15% repair discount and the no-after-hours-fee rule apply from day one.
Does it cover the cost of repairs?
No. It covers the two tune-ups and takes 15% off repairs. It is a maintenance plan, and we won't call it a warranty.
