About us
A name on the truck means a name behind the work.
Walt Sturdy started this in 1978 with one truck and a rule he never wrote down because he never had to: treat every house like it's your mother's. His son Tom and granddaughter Jess still run it that way.

Still not for sale
Every few months a letter shows up offering to buy the company.
We keep them in a drawer. A lot of local HVAC names have been bought by investment firms that keep the old logo on the van and change everything behind it. This one is still owned by the people whose name is on it, and the person at your door might be standing behind you at the grocery store next week.
That keeps us honest in a way a sales quota never could.
- We give you a window and keep itTwo hours. If we're running late, we call you.
- You see the price firstYou approve it before a wrench touches anything.
- Repair before replaceWe rule out the cheap parts before anyone says "new system."
- A Sturdy answers the phoneIncluding the after-hours line. Usually Tom.
Three generations, same phone number.
- 1978
Walt Sturdy buys a used van and starts fixing furnaces out of his garage.
- 1996
Tom comes on full time. Walt adds "& Sons" to the van, a little early. There's only the one son.
- 2019
Jess earns her NATE certification and takes over scheduling, then the whole shop. Nobody changes the name.
- Today
Same family, same number. Walt still stops by on Fridays to check the trucks.
Word around town
What folks say after we leave
"Another company quoted us a whole new system. Their tech swapped one part, showed it to me, and we were cold again by dinner."
"Third generation of my family using the third generation of theirs. That tells you everything you need to know."
"The fall tune-up caught a cracked part. They sent a photo and a price and let us think about it. No pressure at all."
Reviews shown are illustrative samples written for this concept project.
